Christmas Wreath

Whenever I shop and look at Christmas wreaths or any wreaths for that matter, they are so ridiculously expensive, so I found this plain green wreath on sale for $5.00 and decided to make my own. I wanted something simple, so I added a few pinecones and some jingle bells and of course a nice red burlap bow.   Like the way it turned out.

Have you started your Christmas decorating?

And So It Begins…

Oh my gosh…I cannot believe my last post was in October! Time just goes by way too fast! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner, a very short corner!  I have started on my Christmas decorating and I must say each year it just seems to get harder and harder to lug everything down from upstairs. To think I used to put up 3 trees!

I started out with some candy canes and a few ornaments on the tree but Jasper kept sneaking them off one by one so I thought I would try just putting some ribbon garland on. So far so good.

Of course he had to jump in the picture and check out the candle! I don’t light any candles unless I am right there to keep an eye on him.

Have a great day!

Back At It

It has been so long since I have worked on any project. When I went through my “Maggie” books the other day, I came across this pattern I have been wanting to make for so long.  I figured I would get it all cut out so at least I would have that much done but once I did that, I decided I wanted to start on it.  Here is part of it.

I managed to get this cute picture of Paley the other night. He was watching the storm clouds.

My summer is winding down…it won’t be long until school is back in session.

Picture Frame

I found the neatest frame the other day for one of Jake and Jackie’s engagement pictures.  I was thinking of what I could clip on to it and  I remembered I had this little tag that says, “Happy is this way.”   Decided that was perfect!

Jasper seemed to like it, I think he was mesmerized!

Another Project

I’ve been seeing a lot of repurposed lamp shades so I thought I would give it a try.  I picked up a lampshade at the thrift store and bought some burlap ribbon and I had some muslin that I made into bows. I attached the burlap and bows with some hot glue.  I’m one of those that like instant results, besides, I just wanted to hang it on my patio!

It’s kind of hard to see as I was looking into the light.

The possibilities are endless!

Fairy Garden Fun

Long time no post and no excuse, other than just “life” itself! Motivation and inspiration…I’m kind of lacking those right now but I did manage to pull something together for once.

I thought I would share with you an idea I have had in my head for quite  some time.  I finally managed to drag out my ongoing collection of pieces I have acquired for this project.

I found these cute little marked down chairs in the after Christmas tree ornaments.  I guess they had beach theme ornaments…who knew?! I wanted to paint them white and 6 months after Christmas I finally did.

Found this paint 1/2 price at Michael’s Craft Store.

When I was looking for fake plants to use I found some neat succulents but they wanted $6 just for one, so imagine my excitement when I came across this  $6 wreath at the thrift store, with greens and succulents!

Yay for me!

I had purchased this lantern and the green mossy grass 1/2 price. Then I picked up the styrofoam, little flower pots and some rocks. I had the little fairy and flowers. I just laid the grass on top of the styrofoam and then placed the items where I wanted. I didn’t want to glue them in because I wanted to be able to change it up now and then

Enjoy your day!

More Magnet Fun

Awhile back (here) I told you about my old ceiling tile and how I wanted to use it for a magnet board. I’ve been on the lookout for pieces that would make great magnets. Part of the fun is finding objects that I can turn into magnets. I came across this metal bird thinking it would make a neat one.  I found these pretty paper flowers in a craft store. You can find some neat things in the dollar bins once in awhile too!

Terrible Twos

Jasper is just like a kid in his terrible twos!  He has been so darn ornery it’s not even funny!  He likes to go from one “no” to the next.  If it’s attention he’s after, he sure is getting it!  I hope he calms down the older he gets!

He just keeps at it……..

and at it….

He wears himself out!

Another Change

I just love watching Fixer Upper on HGTV with Chip and Joanna Gaines.  Love her decorating style.  I changed things up a bit above my fireplace. Again, just trying to lighten things up. Still love my primitives but maybe adding some rustic farmhouse touches.

We just had our 26th wedding anniversary and Rusty surprised me with some pretty flowers!

Cupcake Wars

Has anyone seen Cupcake Wars on the Food Network?  Jones Bros Cupcakes from Omaha, Nebraska competed on the “Country Music Award” episode I believe in 2012 and won!  Since then I have always wanted to try one of their cupcakes and I finally got the chance this past weekend.  I chose a Red Velvet cupcake. I actually wanted one of each but decided that wouldn’t be a very healthy approach. Scroll on down and I’ll let you know how it was…

The anticipation… Couldn’t wait until I got home to open the box!

Look at that frosting… I had to sit and stare at them for awhile… a very short while!  Smile

One last look…

How many bites did it take to finish the cupcake?   Not very many!!  As a matter of fact, it all now seems like a distant memory to me, a very yummy distant memory!

The result……………..

It was scrumdelicious!!

Sweet memories,

Found this cute little piece the other day.  It wouldn’t be that hard to make. In fact I bought it with the idea that I would make something similar but we all know where that idea went……..nowhere! lol

Drug out my stamps and punches and made a Pinterest inspired card. A person just needs a HUGE craft room with different sections, stamping, stitching, painting, wreath making, etc.  My problem is I can’t just zero in on one craft.  I like to do several so therefore I end up with a lot of supplies!

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

February’s Coming…

I guess it is safe to say, I have become a part time blogger!  It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything!  Life just keeps happening and the days just keep getting away from me!  I decided I better get my hearts out and enjoy them before February comes and goes. I found this neat old ceiling tile and thought I would use it as a magnet board. I’ve had fun playing around with it and have been thinking about making some magnets from some old keys or game pieces or just anything unusual.  I’ve seen a lot of neat ideas on Pinterest.  What did we do without Pinterest?!
