Dentist = Scaredy Cat!

Wow, it’s been awhile since I posted.  Just haven’t been feeling that great.  It all started with one tooth.  My mom found this picture and it fits me perfectly because I do not like to go to the dentist!  Talk about fear!   Anyway, I had a tooth that was bothering me so the dentist was going to put a crown on it.  Got in the chair, he gave me shots to numb it, waited awhile and then proceeded to drill away.  Well up goes my hand,  my mouth may feel tingly  but it was definitely not numb.  I could feel everything, so he gave me some more numbing shots and waited.  Tried again and I could still feel it.  Never have had that happen before.  We decided best solution would be to pull it so I got an appointment next day with a oral surgeon.  I was scared to death they wouldn’t be able to numb it either but was told they do it differently than the dentist and thankfully were able to get it pulled.   Had it pulled on Tuesday and by Friday I was still having quite a bit of pain so went back to the surgeon and he said I had a dry socket and then he proceeded to pack it and that hurt like the dickens!   He said I would start feeling better within the hour.  Well it took a little longer but I did finally feel better.  Then Saturday I noticed it was aching just a little and this morning it is aching again too.  I’m supposed to go back tomorrow (Monday).  Hoping I can get it all taken care of and be done with it, don’t like pain!  So if you took my picture right now, I would look exactly like the cat above, no fooling, well, except my eyes would be blue!

Singing the toothache blues,

Mindy

  2. I'm with you.... scared to death of the dentist!! (My dentist now has actually never hurt me, but I think it goes back to the days of my youth when my dentist did EVERYTHING without the use of novocaine!) I hope you are feeling better soon.... :)

  4. You poor thing, no wonder you don't like going to the dentist. I had dry socket one time. I had a tooth pulled and it never bled. I knew something was wrong. It hurt more than the toothache. Try ice on your cheek. Hope you feel better soon, hunny :(

  5. Ask for oral sedation----then get numbed------you'll just have to have some drive to and from.

  8. Hi Mindy, bless your heart, so sorry that you have had such an ordeal with that tooth and so much pain. Hope you start doing better. I had a dental experience also, I had an abcessed tooth a few weeks ago, the dentist was about to do a root canal and said it was cracked through the middle and couldn't be saved. I acted like a baby and said all I could do was think of the pain and see him jerking and jerking and it not coming out. Well it was alot of pressure, but not too bad. But it has been two weeks and I still can hardly eat on that side, it is weird having this big whole in my mouth. It seems like I have lost part of my body. he he Wishing you a speedy recovery. hugs, Lecia

  11. Oh, my, I was there not long ago. Had to go to an oral surgeon b/c the dentist gave me the limit allowed by law to numb my mouth but I could still feel! So, after the visit to the oral surgeon I woke up after being put to sleep and the surgery was all over. No pain at all. Funny thing, when I was younger I did not have this numbing problem. Hope you are feeling better very soon :)

  13. Sure hope you are on the mend soon. I have terrible teeth and every single one is filled and most with root canals. I do NOT like the dentist either! A bad tooth can make you flu like and tired also so maybe now you will get to feeling better. Sending well wishes your way. (Sheep Shed Primitives)
