Inspiring Books

lpcp 220

I’ve been going through some of my books and magazines I have and I do have quite a collection but I really enjoy every single one of them.  I have lots of the old Country Living magazines, which as far as I’m concerned, can’t be beat.  I also have quite a few books that I have acquired at different sales here and there.  I don’t just stash them away and forget about them, I continually get them out now and again and look through them over and over each time seeing or learning something new.  Just like today I discovered I have two Mary Emmerling books and I love them both.  One is called “Smart Decorating” and the other “New Country Collecting.”

Smart Decorating is a wonderful book full of pictures and ideas.  It was written with the help of James Cramer and Dean Johnson.  I bet I’ve looked through it 100 times and I’m still not tired of it!  New Country Collecting is also full of inspiring ideas  for collecting and decorating.  I didn’t realize Mary has quite a collection of books that she has done.  There are several American Country books by her,  American Country Gardens, American Country Christmas, American Country Cottages, just to name a few.  I’m always so excited when I come across old books like these at a sale.  So glad I snatched them up when I did!  Here are some pictures from “Smart Decorating.”  Jasper insisted on sneaking in the pictures!lpcp 232

  1. I, too, love looking back through all my old country decorating books and magazines! Wish the Country Living mags of today were more like the old ones.... I never buy them anymore. I'll be on the look-out for Mary Emmerling's books... I don't have any of them. TFS!

  9. Jasper is so cute :) I remember watching Mary Emmerling on The Country Home show that used to air on HGTV. I always loved what she shared, and those old issues of Country Living Magazine....they put the new ones too shame. They were so much more wonderful to look through. I still have some very good decorating books, but I cut out the favorite pages of my magazines and combined them all together in a binder. Then did away with the rest. Now,I flip through and love every page :) Blessings

  11. I too am a book and magazine addict :) so tell me, does the Kitty give you decorating tips? Indoor/outdoor catnip carpet? A day at the beach tuna room freshner? Sorry, couldn't help myself :) been sick and going just a little stir crazy. Seeing the cuteness I could only imagine what kind of decorating a cat would want lol
