Finally got my tree down.  Thought I would leave some greenery up for awhile.  Just been enjoying my time off from work.  I should be doing some constructive things but hasn’t happened yet!

Cute Gift!

Need a last minute Christmas gift?  I just think this snowman is adorable!  He was a Christmas surprise from my supervisor.  His hat is a pair of gloves.   One glove is inside the other. The white paper is wrapped around a bag of microwave popcorn.  The only problem is he’s so darn cute I don’t want to take him apart.  I will though to wear those snuggie gloves but I’m going to enjoy him a little while longer first.  On the back she wrote, “Just popping in to wish you a Merry Christmas!”   Just wanted to share with you all, cause I thought it was so clever!

I have to share a funny story with you all.  My mom and I were out shopping the other day and went into this little shop.  A very nice older gentleman was tending the store for his wife.  As we were looking around,  he informed us, “My wife called and said to mark down all the Primitive dolls half price.  To me, primitive means ugly, so I just went around and marked down all the ugly things.”

I had to smile to myself because as you know, some people just don’t get “primitive” and they either like it or they don’t.

When checking out, he was making out my ticket trying to write down what I had bought and with a puzzled but serious look on his face he said to me,  “I don’t know what you’d call that thing… maybe you do?”   Every time I think about it, I just burst out laughing.

Although he wasn’t impressed with my purchases, I sure am.  I love my grubby little gingerbread man tied on to a tea stained red ticking candy cane and…

the little snowman head on an old forgotten door knob, how unique is that?!

Yes, I suppose what appeals to me, to some, may most certainly appear strange to them.  But given the choice over the newest sparkling glassware or an old door knob topped with a snowman head, you can bet your fanciest overalls, I’m gonna go with the door knob!

I caught him yawning in this one but I prefer to tell everyone he’s telling me to “knock if off already!”

My brother and I have had this Santa ever since we were just little tiny folks!  So he’s around 50 years old,  not that we are mind you!  He has a little wind up thingy ma jig on his back but he doesn’t play music anymore.  I reckon he is too tired but I love him just the same!

More Christmas Decorating

Here are a few more pictures of my Christmas decorating.  I tried to put a few ornaments on my tree but Jasper kept batting at them and I was afraid he would knock over the tree so I just took them off.  I guess I could put something on the very top, that might be safe!

I usually put a tree up in the kitchen but I don’t know if I will get around to that this year or not.  Time will tell I guess.  Just got home from work and now I think I will go enjoy a cup of coffee!  Stay warm!

Christmas Decorating

Hope you all had a very nice Thanksgiving, I know we did.  Always lots of good food!  Well I have officially started my Christmas decorating.  Thought I would share with you what  I’ve done so far.  As you see, I don’t have any of my tree yet.  I had to get new lights for it.  I didn’t know how Jasper was going to react to the tree but so far he has left it alone.

Christmas Open House

I was able to attend Country Crow Primitives Christmas Open House and I must say I just love –love -love their home!  I have been there before and I know I will go there again as many times as I possibly can.  Just can’t get enough of their warm and cozy primitive home.  As many of you may know, Mark and Eva Zimmerman’s home was featured in the 2013 Autumn issue of Mercantile Gatherings.  The front cover is a photo taken in their home.

Eva was very gracious in letting me take some photos to share.  Their front porch was all dressed up in sprigs of greenery. You can click on this image to enlarge.

Remember Me?

Hi everyone, hopefully you still remember me! I have been a very bad blogger lately and I don’t have any good excuse for that either other than the daily routine of life seems to keep me busy and time just seems to get away from me but even though I’ve been away from the computer, I’m still always thinking about all my blogging friends and how much I appreciate each and everyone of you!!

Thought I would take a picture of the tree in my front yard.  So pretty.  Although I took this the other day and it has already lost quite a few leaves.

I went into a thrift store the other day and found this neat little wooden barrel and a little brown crock, both for $3 each.  It’s always fun when you come across some treasures!  It looks like there are lines on them but that’s just the shadow of my plant sitting next to them.

lpcp 948 I wanted to share my awesome gourd basket I got awhile back that I had Linda Cochran make for me. Love it!  Thanks Linda!

Now I’m looking forward to a delicious Thanksgiving dinner and some pumpkin pie!!

Toasty Warm

First of all, thank you everyone for thinking of me during my dental episode.  It’s finally all over with and I’m back to normal again, well as normal as I can be!

The evenings have been getting cooler with November fast approaching.  We have one of these little electrical stove heaters and we just love it.  I love the looks of it with its little logs and flames.  It puts out some nice heat and really warms you up.  We have one in the kitchen and liked it so well we decided we wanted one in the living room too.

Here are a few outside shots around the homestead.

The scarecrow was from a couple of years ago.  Rusty put up the Vikings flag, they’re not doing so great this year :-(
