The Doll You Can’t Do Without

My grandma made these one year and my mom came across it the other day. Since I’ve been so stressed lately (along with many others)  she thought I could use it. Maybe you have seen them before. It’s a little doll with the following saying attached.

When you want to climb the walls

And stand right up and shout,

There’s a little dammit doll

you cannot do without.

Just grab it firmly by the legs

And find a place to slam it,

And as you whack its stuffings out,

Now, take a nice deep breath and have a great evening!

Whine (not wine) and Worry

There have been so many uncertainties about so many things this summer for so many people. It’s just crazy. I have been worrying about so many things (yes me, the Queen of Worry) in fact if you don’t know what you should be worrying about, give me a call and I bet I have already thought about it and have been worrying about it for quite some time now. Every once in a while I have to get on here and whine, so just say to yourself, “Yep, she’s in that whining mood again!”

When I get in my stressful mode I always think about the pencil that my grandma had. I know I’ve shown you these before, but I’m STRESSED ok? Just humor me! I loved playing with it whenever I would go to her house and I still love playing with it. We are going to be making some for the summer reading program and they will be called “Trolls.”

Here they are sitting nice and pretty, their hair all smooth and everything seems to  be going just great, but…   pcpics 3160

all of a sudden…

pcpics 3164

they remember something they should be worrying about and look what happens to them then. You can click on the photos and make those critters bigger.

This is how I feel all the time right now. The wild hair look. I comb it down but soon as I start thinking, the wild look is back!

By the way, the red one is my grandmas and like everything else, I prefer the fur they use to make lots better than the fur they make now, heck you can’t even get a decent wild look with that yellow hair!!!

Hope you’re having some stress free days and if you aren’t well then quit yer belly achin! You don’t see me complaining do you?! :-)

Thanks for listening!!

Meet Laura Beth

Isn’t she the sweetest little prairie doll? The minute I saw her, I had to have her! To me she just looked like a Laura Beth so that’s what I named her. Laura Beth came to me from simply primitives.

Storm & Wool Project

Last night we had a storm blow in. The skies looked awful, but today we have much cooler temperatures so I’m liking that! You can click on photos to enlarge.

I finished my little project I was working on. I wanted to make another book cover but I decided to make this one a little different. I made it so when I am done writing in this notebook, I can just slip the book out and replace it with another one.

It is extremely hot today so I’ve been working on a wool project inside. I’m almost finished with it and will be posting pictures soon. I decided to go out and take some pictures of my flowers that are blooming.

A Little Outing

Today Joan & I had the pleasure of stopping by a friends house. She has a very nice home and a lot of neat things she has made herself. While there, I also saw some items that caught my eye such as this small candle box.

pcpics 3103

and this shaker box was also very neat and inside the shaker box was……

some shaker labels!

Here are some old wooden curtain rings I believe.

The gal that lives here is one talented lady I tell you, she can make lots of things. Here are her looms…

It’s amazing to me how she can take those threads and these looms and….

Bird Nest and Strawberries

First of all I want to say thank you to my brother who brought me some strawberries from his garden. They were berry yummy!

I just finished a bird nest (Maggie’s). It’s kind of hard to see, you can click on the photo to enlarge. I haven’t decided if I’m going to make it into a pillow or just what I am going to do with it.

pcpics 3089

I pinned it up on this piece of wool, it’s funny because in the picture the two wools look like completely different colors but in person they look the same (either that or I’m color blind!)

pcpics 3083

I have a couple of other projects in mind to start working on, maybe I’ll get going on one of those. However each day I keep telling myself I’m going to start going room by room and declutter and simplify! But then, each day, I look at each room and I think……”I’ll start tomorrow!”  I’m still waiting for “tomorrow” to come!

Wouldn’t this be fun!!

I don’t care if these were made for little girls or not, if I had one, I’d be playing in it! Think how much fun it would be decorating it!

A Lakeview Primitive Pattern

I realize I haven’t been much of a blogger lately but our town is a zoo right now what with people moving out because of the impending flood.  It’s going to flood, it’s just not really known where or when. Seems like the story around here changes every day. My husband’s employer had to move their business to higher ground so he worked most of the day helping with that. Everyone’s on pins and needles around here.

Meanwhile, I dug out one of my favorite patterns from Lakeview Primitives. I made this a long time ago. You can click on photos to enlarge.

Time Will Tell

pcpics 1813 Officials say serious flooding 'imminent' on Missouri River lowlands. That’s been the news around here. Many people in the lowlands of our community have moved to higher ground. Officials are even suggesting that the flood waters will reach into our downtown area. It is just a wait and see, time will tell story for now. As you can imagine emotions are running high and it’s just a very stressful time for all concerned. We, ourselves, are not in the flood plain but there have even been comments that the water could come this far. It’s the not knowing where and when that is very frustrating. With the Joplin, Missouri devastating tornado and other places that have been hit, and all the places now facing flooding, this is not turning out to be a very good summer. One day at a time, that’s all anyone can do, just one day at a time.Mindy
