Little stockings

Last year Joan and I made some little place setting stockings for Christmas but I didn't get to use them because the weather was so bad we didn’t get together. I was thinking about them the other day so I went and hunted them down. Hopefully I will be able to use them this year!

Playing with lights, Charlie and Snoopy

Aren’t Christmas lights so pretty? I find myself just staring at them, especially when no other lights are on in the room, So naturally I grabbed my camera and started snapping.

pcpics 2100

I love the lights flickering off the old tin panels on my pie safe!

pcpics 2101

Here I added an extra warm glow.

pcpics 2103

The gingerbread men were also wanting the extra glow as it reminded them of the oven they came out of!

Then we tried a little sepia tone.

Then I forgot I had some orange slices to add to my gingerbread tree!

I found a couple of cute little Snoopy light ups to put in my windows. After I got them hung up I realized they are kind of small, at least when you are looking at them from the street. Hopefully people will be able to tell what they are. I got right up to them to take a picture.

A Show and Tell

Look what Patti from Winding Vine Wanderings made for me! Isn’t it pretty? If you remember, I blogged about trying to make those little bitty flower pieces and finally gave up as I found it just too darn hard to work with! I was bummed out about it because I wanted to make one but I knew that wasn’t going to happen so I am really happy now that I have this cute little flower pot pillow!pcpics 1988

and look how she had it wrapped….so cute!

pcpics 1986

 I even love the back!

If you haven’t done so before, you need to check out Patti’s blog Winding Vine Wanderings. It’s one of my favorties! She’s very talented and is always making neat things!

Thanks again Patti! Love it, Love it, Love it!

First of all I want to start off by saying, WOW! I can’t believe how many followers I have! It has been so much fun seeing my friends sign up to follow and then to meet new friends, some of which have some really neat blogs of their own. Be sure to check some of those out! Anyway my plan and my goal is to reach 100 and if that happens I want to do a give away! I think it will be fun! If I reach 100 I will at that time give you more details but to have a chance to win you will of course need to be registered as a follower of my blog. I have participated in other blog give aways and it’s just been a fun thing to do. It’s always fun when you have a chance to win something! I’ve been thinking about doing this for some time. Anyway, we will see what happens!

Now here are the pieces of my next Maggie project. Anyone have a guess as to what it will be? :-)

Did a little tweaking with my white cupboard. As you know, I love primitives and so I’m just not much on the color white. I just kept feeling like the white was too overwhelming for me. I decided I needed to get some of my darker pieces in there and get a little contrast going. Click on pictures to make larger.

So that’s what I did.

pcpics 1971

I like it much better now. I got this cute stitchery off of Twila’s free table. I like the little garland she’s holding.

pcpics 1977

I still have some more tweaking I want to do in other areas but I’m thinking it won’t be much longer and I will be decorating for Christmas so maybe I should just wait and do it all at one time.

I do have a new penny rug in mind that I’m going to start making. I will give you a hint, it’s a Maggie pattern and it will be for the Christmas season.

In Remembrance

Lost a very special person/friend yesterday to cancer. Joan’s husband Homer passed away. Homer was a very caring individual and believed faithfully in the practice of God’s Mission. He was truly an inspiration and will be greatly missed.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

Laundry Blessings

Been without a washer and dryer for a very long seemed like forever week. Would you believe when we went on the hunt for a new pair, nobody had them in stock. You had to order them. I couldn’t believe it. I thought that was really weird. I mean usually when someone is shopping for a washer and dryer it’s because they need one NOW. You don’t go looking at them saying, “ Well, I have a perfectly wonderful set at home that works just great but I thought I would shop for a new set to have on stand by for when mine quit working in 10 years.” I don’t know, maybe there is a reason for it but it seems strange to me! Anyway we finally got ours and I have actually enjoyed doing laundry today as I don’t have to lug it around somewhere to wash. One of those little things we take for granted.

Treasures from yesterday

Paula at Red Door Primitives had some pictures marked way down and I picked up this one because I love gourds and it is such a neat picture I thought.

pcpics 1948

I need Christmas decorations like I need a hole in the head. I have enough now to decorate a city, BUT, this particular Santa caught my eye right off and I stood and stared at him for quite some time and told myself I don’t need another Christmas item so I went on looking around and the next thing I knew I saw someone carrying around that Santa. I immediately started arguing with myself.  I said, “self, I told you it was a neat Santa, it was one of those things that you were just automatically drawn to, you loved it the first minute you saw it and yet you walked away, now someone else is going to enjoy it.” Oh well, what’s done is done So I continued on looking. After some time I saw the lady with the Santa holding it up and looking at it, setting it down and looking at it. Could it be? Could it be she’s thinking about not getting it? I felt I must stay close by just in case she decided to put it down! YES, she put him down! I made my move, I hurried over and quickly snatched him up, he’s mine! The Santa is mine!!  Paula made him by the way.

Then I picked up this battery operated flicker candle.

pcpics 1956

Last but not least I got this wooden box.

Red Door Primitives

I had a day off from work today as there was no school so for me that meant I could attend my friend Paula’s (Red Door Primitives) open house! When I arrived she informed me that her daughter had her baby boy (they have a little girl) so she was very excited about that! Congratulations Grandma Paula and to Amy and her family!

Paula was so very kind to let me take some pictures. She had a lot of neat things to look at! You can click on the pictures to make them larger.

Paula is very talented, she makes a lot of things herself!

Love those pictures on the wall!

There’s that purse again….

I snapped a picture of the Christmas tree as I was waiting in line to pay.

pcpics 1941

I will show you my purchases later. It was a very nice open house! Thank you Paula for allowing me to take some pictures to share with my blogging friends!

After I left Paula’s I met my friend Angi and we had lunch together. It turned out to be a beautiful day. Tonight we are going to watch our son in a school play then it’s back to work tomorrow. Thank goodness for those fun little days here and there!

Stitchery done!

My niece has been wanting me to make this stitchery for her for quite some time. I finally got it done.

pcpics 1924

It’s hard to read in the picture but this penny rug says, “How we use our blessings is the true measure of our Thanksgiving.” It’s one of my favorites that I have made.

I have some other things I want to do but so far I have kept putting them off. :-(
