Remember this photo of my laundry room?

My mom and I went up to my aunt’s yesterday and spent the day. We had a lot of fun but the day went too fast! Anyway my aunt had done this watercolor drawing from my picture of the laundry room. Isn’t it awesome?! I wish I was able to draw that good! I went and got a frame for it and hung it in my laundry room.

It is always so pretty there. We went out for lunch and then stopped at a few shops, did some more visiting and then had to head back home. It was a great day!

Bubble Day

Today was our last day of the summer reading program at the library.

pcpics 1165

The kids blew bubbles, made crafts, had relays and finished up with pizza.

pcpics 1166

We also had drawings for prizes.

The Comfort Zone

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for Maggie’s new book to be released. I am soooooooooooooo anxious!!

I found the following article and photo above in the Lexington News.

By Ben Wood/Staff Writer

Ben Wood/ Maggie Bonanomi says her new book, “Comfort Zone,” features projects, such as these applique runners and slippers, that focus on warmth and comfort.

Lexington craftswoman Maggie Bonanomi’s third book in as many years went to press late last week.
“Comfort Zone, More Primitive Projects for You and Your Home” will be available in the first week of August. The 112-page book, which will be in full color, will feature 18 projects, ranging from hooked rugs, handmade wool appliqué, jackets, bed covers, pin cushions and slippers.
“We tried to do some things that readers of previous books had requested,” Bonanomi said.
Bonanomi, who shares an 1840s home on Highland Avenue with her husband, Harold, said “Comfort Zone” offers projects emphasizing warmth and comfort.
Like Bonanomi’s previous two books – “With These Hands, 19th Century-Inspired Projects for Your Home” and “Nature’s Offerings: Primitive Projects Inspired by the Four Seasons” – “Comfort Zone” is being published by Kansas City Star Books.

Is it here yet?

How bout now?

Blue Devils

The season is over for the Nishnabotna Blue Devils after a 9-1 loss to the Mason City Newman Catholic Knights Saturday afternoon in Principal Park in Des Moines. The boys should be very proud of their selves, they did an awesome job!

They were supposed to play Friday night but they got rained out. In fact we were in a tornado warning.

The following is from the Martin Daily Blog on KMA. Click here for full story.

Wow. Who saw that coming? For the first time in either Farragut or Hamburg history they will send a baseball team to the State Tournament. The Nishnabotna Blue Devils, who didn’t even win the Corner Conference title, won the district and substate titles and will head to Des Moines. Something tells me they’ll take those last two over the conference. Seriously, though, who saw it coming?

Car troubles, thieves, library & fair

Well the boys took my car yesterday to Omaha thinking they had the most reliable one out of everybodys but surprise surprise they got stranded up there so hubby had to go get them. My car would only go about 20 miles per hour. So they managed to pull it to the new A & M shop and there it stayed. Tonight poor hubby is going back up to see what can be done.

Then I heard from my neighbor/brother in law that his car was broken into while it was parked in his drive way under a light none the less. He just lives right up the street from us. Can’t people find something better to do with their life.

Meanwhile I have been getting ready for story hour Wednesday at the library as Linda will be gone and the county fair begins this week so hope it won’t be too awful hot!

The Importance of Walking

Received another good email from my sister-in-law Deb.

Walking can add minutes to your life.  This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking
five miles a day when he was 60.
Now he's 97 years old
and we don't know where he is.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I’m doing.

I joined a health club last year,
    spent about 400 bucks.
    Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there.

Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say,
'Well, she looks good doesn't she.'

If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

I know I got a lot of exercise
    the last few years,......
    just getting over the hill.

We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
AND Every time I start thinking too much about how I look, I just find a Happy Hour and by the time I leave, I look just fine.

If you don't share

this with at least 1 of your friends within
the next 5 minutes your belly

button will unscrew and your

butt will fall off.

Really.... It's true

Mindy ;-)

Good Bread, Good Books

pcpics 1102

Made some beer bread today. It is so good! It is from Tastefully Simple.

Just finished reading a really good book I got at the library. Want a peek into American Life—past and present? The “Love Finds You” series published by Summerside Press features real towns and combines travel, romance and faith, in one irresistible package. Summerside Press plans to publish at least one novel set in each of the 50 states. I saw they had some at Walmart. Anyway, it was a really good book, I hated to finish reading it. I want to read them all now!

Speaking of good books, I had mentioned to Joan at one time or another that I was discovering that I happened to like a lot of Mark Twain quotes. To my surprise, she got this book for me for my birthday. I have enjoyed reading through it! Thanks again Joan!

Did you guess?

This house is fashioned after the house at 1164 Morning Glory Circle on “Bewitched.”
