Today was the first day of our Summer Reading Program at the Public Library. They will meet every Wednesday through July. Linda and I had the first group. This is the theme.

Here are some of the books we read. I had never read “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” It was a really cute book.

We did some canvas water bottle holders…..

Some little soap cups with some little soaps in them… we had these for the younger kids but they wanted to do some too.

June’s almost over…..NO!

Can you believe we are fast approaching July? It is unreal how fast the time goes anymore. I need to get out some red, white and blue things before the 4th comes and goes. This picture is from last year.

The summer reading program starts at the Library tomorrow so I hope we have a good turn out.

I found some flannel backing for my Maggie quilt that I just love. I will post pictures later. I also will post some pictures of some dishes I acquired. Maybe I can get that done tomorrow.

Online Organizer

If you’re like me you have to log in to be able to access a lot of websites. You have to have a user name, password sometimes ID numbers, answers to questions etc. Well it got to the point my little ole brain just couldn’t remember every single one of those passwords and I didn’t want to use the same one for all of them so I just had to start me a little book and write them all down. Sure makes it a lot easier now instead of having to click on “forgot my password."

My Cutting boards

Now maybe some of you already know this but I was reading somewhere and I can’t remember where, that if you have cutting boards, an old dresser or anything wood that you were thinking about stripping, that you could bring out the best in the wood by using 3 parts oil to one part vinegar. Either white or apple cider vinegar and olive or vegetable oil. Just mix it up and rub it on with a clean cloth and the wood just soaks it up. See the difference in the first 2 pictures? I used it on a couple of cutting boards.

Pie and Buys

pcpics 917

I don’t make pies but I decided I wanted to give it a try so this is my first pie. I was very pleased at how it turned out. I used the pie crust shown below. Doug said it was the best pie he’s ever had! (I do believe he is stretching the truth there just a tad!)

Here are my buys from the Walnut flea market. I got this wooden ice cream bucket. I just love the painted color on the bucket. I filled it with some of my baby’s breath. Breath taking, I might add!

Last but not least I picked up this thread.

Being it is summer, I might miss a couple of days of bloggin here and there. You know how it can be! Have a great day!

Flea Market

Yesterday Joan and I traveled to Walnut to their flea market. I just loved this person’s booth. I thought they had a lot of neat things and I just loved how they had it all set up. You can click on the pictures to make bigger.

pcpics 902

It had rained (poured) on the way up there but when we got there it had quit but it was breezy and cool. Then as the day went on it got really hot!

I thought this was a interesting find. I came across this sign that I myself made. I made it when I worked for a gal and she had a little shop, which she no longer has. She had an auction a while back of some things and I saw it there. Well obviously someone bought it and they had it for sale in their booth. I believe they had $28 on it. I just thought it was something that I came across it amongst all that was there that day.

pcpics 910

We didn’t buy much. There prices I thought were a little high. I spent a total of $22. I left my things in Joan’s car so when I get them I will post pictures.

I noticed today I am a little bit sun burned so I’m sure I got some vitamin D.

Stamps and Marbles

Here are some old stamps we got from Rusty’s mom years ago. He doesn’t know anything about them. They are kind of interesting. I’m trying to think of some neat things to do with them.

pcpics 895

These are some old marbles that belonged to Rusty’s dad. He showed Rusty how to play marbles with them. They’re kind of pretty all in a jar!

Rain and Antiques

pcpics 875

Homer drove Joan and I to Kansas City to a antique show. It was outside in tents but it rained cats and dogs and we got literally soaked! We enjoyed looking even though we were drenched. Homer sat inside. He didn’t care to look at antiques in the rain. I’m guessing the real reason he wanted to wait inside was because Clifford the Big Red Dog was there! lol

pcpics 874

On the way home we stopped at some antique malls. This was one of them.

pcpics 879

Then we stopped at this quilt shoppe. It was a really nice one. They had wools and patterns so of course I was thrilled about that! We looked for some flannel to back our quilts we are making but we didn’t see one that we thought we wanted.

pcpics 876

This was outside the door. I thought the rag quilt and flowers were pretty…….

pcpics 877

As was this!

pcpics 878

Here are the patterns I purchased.

pcpics 880

This was my big antique purchases. Another spool with thread on it (love it! Just one of those things) and then I got some little molds. I have been wanting to try my hand at making some soap. It’s just something on my someday want to try list!

Ok, now all I have left is the top and bottom piece to do and then the backing.
