We need to do some repairs on the lattice and then we picked up some paint because it needs repainting. I’m think about painting the fence white too. What do you think?

Picture Posing Bee…….

Not much happening today other than I have been working on my quilt and doing some ironing getting ready for my nephew Trevor’s wedding. It is going to be an outdoor wedding. I will have some pictures to share I’m sure.

I went outside to water my flowers and this bee kept following me around. At least it was nice enough to pose for pictures!

Kindred Spirits

pcpics 732

I got my copy of “A Simple Life” magazine and it is wonderful! As I was looking through it I found a paragraph and quote on the last page that I really love! You know how I am always telling you that I feel drawn to certain items or how I just seem connected to them in some way? Well maybe you will get a little better understanding of what I mean after you read the following:

The following paragraph is taken from “A Simple Life” magazine, Summer 2010 issue.

There are those of us who are drawn to a different way of life that somehow feels familiar, a simpler time when what they had was made out of necessity. Logs were hewn, a table was built and a bowl was carved, using only what was at hand. They have endured a useful past and are worn and mellowed from everyday living. Occasionally, in quiet moments, we reflect on these simple pieces, longing to hear the story each one could tell. We gather them around us in softly lit rooms and here are souls are renewed. You are the ones who will understand these words by Mark Twain, “You want it not for yourself, but because it will content your spirit.”

and to that, kindred spirits, I say  AMEN!

Yesterdays’ Treasures

pcpics 721

First up, I got a friend for my first kitty I purchased there. The one with the bell is the new one. I guess I need to name them. Any suggestions?’

Then I purchased this wool runner. I just loved the colors in it. Yes, I could make it but I would never have the same colors and it just kept speaking to me.

pcpics 724

Here is another item that immediately knew my name, an old spool with thread still on it.

pcpics 726

Next up, I bought some linen. Linen is hard to find at least around here. I got it to keep on hand so when a project calls for it I will be ready.

I couldn’t resist these snap peas. Don’t they look real?

pcpics 728

Then I got these mossy balls. I need to do some decorating tweaking with some of my new props so I will take pictures when that comes to pass.

pcpics 704

Today Joan and I traveled to Roca to Sweet Annie’s antique show. The morning started out cool and then it got hot later in the day. We went on to Lincoln after Sweet Annie’s and ate lunch and then stopped at Aunt Patty’s Attic. It was a very enjoyable day. I got me some treasures. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Light, flowers & a book

pcpics 704

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine….  Here is a sweet little  light Joan got me. She didn’t think it would fit in my candle holder but it sure did. I love it! Thanks Joan!

pcpics 702

I still have some flowers from Mothers Day holding in there.

pcpics 708

If you are looking for something good to read, I just finished the last book in the “Redemption” series by Karen Kingsbury. It was really good!

pcpics 710

I am tired of rain. Today was such a dreary day. The sun needs to get back out there!

I’m not keeping track or anything but I have 4 days of work left until I’m off for the summer!

Buttons Buttons!

Buttons. I love buttons. There are so many different colors and shapes. Old ones and new ones. I like to just look through them as if they are jewels in my treasure chest. I like to think about who had them before me and where did they all come from. I have some from my grandma and some I have from garage sales and such. I see a picture of buttons and it gets me thinking about mine and what I can do with them.

Ok, so I had this idea. I wanted to take all my white buttons and put them in a jar. Don’t ask me why, I just thought it would be pretty. First of all, I couldn’t find my buttons. I had moved them awhile back and of course couldn’t remember where to so I had to hunt them down.

pcpics 695

Once I found them I started sorting through them looking for all the white buttons. I was having a good time for awhile ( I know, you are thinking she needs a life if she enjoys just sitting and going through a bunch of buttons) and then my hands started to go numb and I couldn’t hold onto the buttons and I would try and put them in the jar and they would miss and bounce everywhere and I began to feel like I was never going to make it through to the end but I finally did. At least through this bunch of buttons. I do have more but they will have to wait until another day.

pcpics 699

Anywho, I achieved my goal and got the white ones in jars. Go ahead now say, “My, aren’t they lovely?!”

Why yes, thank you! I believe they are!

pcpics 701

Now someday, but not anytime soon, I might fill another jar with another color. Won’t that be awesome!! ;-)

Bills, gotta love em!

Well if you’re lookin to be discouraged just sit down and pay your bills. Especially if you have medical bills. Now I know everyone has bills. Some are necessary and some are not. But for crying out loud everything shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Medical bills are simply just astronomical! Not only that, but they expect you to just whip out a check for thousands of dollars or if you make monthly payments they think your payments should be some whopping number. It’s just a sad state of affairs when so many people go without care or medicine because they can not afford it. We should be caring more about peoples lives than dollar amounts! Sorry to vent but all these thoughts go through my head each month during the lovely bill paying time.

If you have any comments they are due by May 20th or there will be a $10.00 late fee plus interest. lol  just kidding!!
