Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I actually think I saw some sun today. I can’t be sure because I haven’t seen it for so long that I don’t quite remember what it looks like. I do know though that because of a long winter and lack of sunshine there are a lot of people out there that are probably low in Vitamin D. I know I was. My Dr. is having me take 2000 units a day.
The following information was taken from The Mayo Clinic website.
The major biologic function of vitamin D is to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium, helping to form and maintain strong bones. Recently, research also suggests vitamin D may provide protection from osteoporosis, hypertension (high blood pressure), cancer, and several autoimmune diseases. ****
So maybe it’s a good idea for both men and women to have their Vitamin D levels checked!
