Southern Dairy & Taylors Chicken Farm

pcpics 377

Aren’t these neat? Joan gave them to me. I just love them. Now I just have to decide what I want to do with them. Any suggestions? I know I could make a pillow or some kind of window treatment but I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas?

Today was another nice day, a little windy but that’s ok. It’s just so nice to be able to start saying goodbye to winter.

Chicks and Wild hair thing

pcpics 368

Today was such a nice day. Loved it! With Easter coming up it made me think of this chicken. It was my Grandma’s. You push it down and it lays marble eggs! I remember playing with it when I went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

pcpics 372

pcpics 373

Then that made me think of this little hen on a nest that was Grandma’s.

pcpics 374

Then…that made me think of this pencil that was Grandma’s and I remember playing with it. It looks so nice and neat and then you rub the pencil back and forth between your hands and…….

pcpics 375

then it looks like this! I don’t know about you but this is how I feel some days. I start off the morning  with everything in it’s place and by the end of the day I feel and look like this!!

pcpics 376

It’s good for stress. You just sit there and smooth out his hair and then you mess it up. I was going to make some at one time but I couldn’t find any of the fur stuff. Bummer.

Shopping and Grace

Yesterday Rusty and I went to Council Bluffs. Figured it would be his last free Saturday for awhile. Just thought we would get away. We stopped at JC Penney’s. Haven’t been there forever but when I do make it there I always stop in the salon to visit my niece Kelli. I want to be sure I brighten up her day!! lol

After a few other stops, we went to Applebees for lunch. We like to eat there. Then we ended the day going to Sam’s Club. After arriving back home I knew Grace was going to be at Linda’s so of course I had to go see her. She is walking now. It is so fun to watch her. Just this little thing walking all over the place! It’s hard to remember when your own kids were that little!

Now today I need to give my house some much needed attention. I’ve got STUFF piling up around me and I need to do something about it, it’s driving me crazy!

Tweaking and another Maggie block

Last night we had our Maggie quilt class. Our last one was in January. We did 2 blocks that night because of the weather always being bad. Last night we did the bottom left block, the basket of flowers. I haven’t got mine stitched yet, just pinned on. I will show you it when I am done.

Today when I got home I just messed around and changed a few things. I like to try and have changes now and then. Just makes you feel better when things are a little different once in awhile!

Don’t know that it will stay that way but if it changes, you’ll be the first to know!

Stitchery and Cutting boards

pcpics 372

Here is one of my favorite stitcheries that I made awhile back. You can click on picture to make larger. It is one of Twigs patterns. I don’t know if she still has it or not.

pcpics 373

Don’t you just love old cutting boards? There is just something about them. They are one of those things that I fill drawn too!

Bird Nests

You know a big part of true primitive decorating is using simple things, things that you have and especially decorating with natural elements. Don’t you just love bird nests? They are made of simple, natural elements and are so beautiful. They are really quite interesting when you think about how and why they are made. Because they are so beautiful and are a natural element they are very good to use to decorate with. You can use them anytime, anywhere.

Here are some of mine that I have around the house.

Snow outside, Spring inside

pcpics 343

It may have been snowing outside today but inside I was working on spring! I took some little Peat pots I got at Walmart, some spanish moss and little eggs that I had and made these. pcpics 349

pcpics 344

pcpics 346 Then I decided they were missing something. I guess they are ok plain too but I thought I would add a little something on them so I printed off some vintage Easter graphics and modge podged them on.

Don’t know what I will do with them all but I had fun making them and as long as I’m having fun that’s all that matters, right?!

Honor Society and bowling

Tuesday night was the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. Doug is a current member so he took part in the program. He gave the closing remarks and adjournment of ceremony. He did a really good job if I do say so myself.

A & M had a bowling party last weekend at Rockport. Rusty bowled but I didn’t. I had just gotten over being sick and dizzy so I just watched. Yeah, I know, I’m dizzy all the time! Funny Funny

Green and Vitamin D

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I actually think I saw some sun today. I can’t be sure because I haven’t seen it for so long that I don’t quite remember what it looks like. I do know though that because of a long winter and lack of sunshine there are a lot of people out there that are probably low in Vitamin D. I know I was. My Dr. is having me take 2000 units a day.

The following information was taken from The Mayo Clinic website.

The major biologic function of vitamin D is to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium, helping to form and maintain strong bones. Recently, research also suggests vitamin D may provide protection from osteoporosis, hypertension (high blood pressure), cancer, and several autoimmune diseases. ****

So maybe it’s a good idea for both men and women to have their Vitamin D levels checked!

Thinking of your health!

Judy’s new book

I don’t know how many of you have seen Judy Condon’s books but her newest one is out now according to her website.

I have been enjoying the 2010 Country Sampler Home Tour edition. I just love to look at all these books and magazines. As I have said before, I have old issues of Country Living and I get those out every now and then and go through them. I never get tired of looking at the pictures. I get such inspiration from them. Seems like you always see something different too!

Wool Crazy

Has anyone seen this Wool Crazy Quilt By JoAnn Mullaly? It certainly is busy, that was my first thought but then I got to thinking I don’t know it might be kind of fun to make all those different pieces. Not that I am going to tackle it. I’ll put it in my “to do someday” file. The information for it was found here.

This is the book you can order.

I just love coming across new patterns!
