A light into the past

Well not much going on here today. Just being lazy mostly. Rusty and I took Reese for a ride, thought maybe he would like to get out of the house.  At least the sun is shining today and that’s a welcomed sight! Here awhile back I showed you my book light I got. I found this picture of one lit up and thought it was pretty so I wanted to share it with you.

Here are a couple of old pictures of my Grandpa Armstrong my cousin had put on Facebook. Wouldn’t it be neat if we could have known our relatives at every stage of their lives? To be able to have known them when they were younger? When people get older we tend to forget that they were once young and did so many things that we will never know about because we just got to know them at a different stage of life. Kind of sad when you think about it. It would be fun to know how they were as kids growing up, even with your own parents. Maybe keeping journals is not such a bad idea after all. At least you would get a glimpse of their thoughts and some of the things they did.

The Assaulted Peanut

I walked down my sidewalk to get the mail today and look what I found, an assaulted peanut. No joke. I started laughing to myself thinking how funny is this. There was only this one peanut, no others and no empty bag. Poor thing just lying there in the snow totally alone and crushed! Anyway after feeling all that sympathy for it I grabbed my camera and decided it would be my blog story for today.

Sorry to say I left him there in the snow, now that I think about it, I feel kind of bad!   I know, once in awhile the craziness comes out in me.

I love to look at old magazines. Joan loaned me some Early American Life magazines to look at. They have really neat pictures in them. Old Country Living magazines have awesome pictures too. The new ones are nothing like the way they used to be. I wish they would go back to the way they were.

Here are a few neat pictures I found that I liked. Love this room!

This room with the fireplace is neat. I could sit in this room a long time!

I could sit in this room too! To me they are just so homey and cozy!

Of course Rusty doesn’t like for me to look through magazines because he thinks I get too many ideas! He’ll see me study a picture and then look around the room and he’ll say, “Quit Looking!”   Not gonna happen dear!

I managed to take some pictures but for some reason instead of having red eyes everyone has glowing eyes.

Bird on a branch pillow

I just finished up another one of my Maggie patterns. This is the picture in her book.

  pcpics 259

I’m happy with the way it turned out except after I got done stuffing it and sewed it up, it has a little pucker at the bottom but I figure it is mine and I can live with it. I have thought about putting a little patch over it as a lot of Maggie’s things are patchy, scrappy. That’s the beauty of primitive, it doesn’t have to be perfect!

Flea Market Style

Ok I must tell you I have heard talk about this magazine but I didn’t feel like I would be interested in it because first of all the cover didn’t appeal to me personally. For me, the colors are too bright and doesn’t look primitive at all. After looking through it, I really liked it! It had a lot of neat things in it and it also had some neat primitive things too! I really liked Joe Apodaca and Jermonne Swendell’s pictures of their 5-acre property outside of Portland, Oregon. They have some really neat decorating ideas. They have a website also.

I guess you really can’t judge a book by it’s cover. If you haven’t seen the magazine I encourage you to check it out!

A wool heart and mat

Here is a nice unexpected surprise I received from a friend, Sue Bright. She made it out of wool. I love it! Thanks Sue!

This is one of my favorite penny rug mats. I like the tulips! I’m thinking Spring again, can you tell?

pcpics 251

Right now I am working on another Maggie pattern. I will post pictures when I am done.

This morning I had to drive to work in the snow again. I didn’t think it was slick when I went, you just couldn’t tell where the road was, just a little minor detail to contend with! When I came home it was still snowing but the roads were mostly just wet. I am tired of having to drive in yucky weather.

New Magazine

Today I received the first issue of a new Primitive magazine by Jill Peterson. It is a very nice magazine with some neat pictures! A good one for all you primitive lovers! I got mine from Twila.

Spring Tweaking

Like the rest of you, I am very tired of the snow so I decided since I don’t have control over the weather, I do have control inside my house so I decided to bring out some Spring. Maybe this will hurry things along a bit! You can click on pictures to make bigger.

pcpics 216

Now I got my mouse at Christmas time but I think he is so cute so I leave him out. I just change what he writes with his pencil.

pcpics 226

Here is one of the Maggie runners I did on my fireplace.

I moved my gourds that I had hanging above my fireplace in the kitchen, although I did love my gourds above the fireplace but just thought I would change it for awhile. Another Maggie runner I made is on this fireplace.

Now in the picture below, there is a little bird nest by the light. Thought I better point that out to you case you didn’t recognize the touch of Spring!  :-)
