Fall decorations

Ok so I told you I would post some pictures of my fall decorations. I just love fall colors, pumpkins, gourds, bittersweet, straw, sunflowers, fall leaves, the smell of cinnamon and pumpkin! It’s just a homey comfy time of year where it’s starting to get a little cooler and you reach for a blanket now and then. Just a beautiful time of year!

Derek gave me a ride on his motorcycle today. I told him this was a one time thing and that normally he was not to ride it without his helmet! It was kind of scary and kind of fun!

Notice that little white dot on the garage door in the first picture? I’m guessing that is our little guardian angel! I hope it continually follows Derek whenever he travels!

Rusty played in a golf tournament today and I stayed home and worked on getting my fall things out. The weather was so nice this morning it just put me in the mood to get out my fall things. I’ll get some pictures later. I’ve been at it all day and now I need to go fix supper. Check out this video! I’ve been singing it all day. Doug got up this morning and said, “ Geeze, How many times did you play that this morning?”  Well at least it put me in a better mood!  :-)

Glad to be a lamb,

Oh happy day, now Rusty’s pickup isn’t running. We just bought 4 new tires, have yet to buy 4 more and now the pickup won’t run. What’s going on here? I don’t like things like this. I keep telling you I need one of Linda’s bears to tap on. I’m starting to go into my deep worry mode. You know the one where you start the what if’s? Ok, this happened, so what if “this” happens, and then what if “this” happens and then what if “this” happens and then what if “this” happens? Am I driving you crazy yet?

Well, that’s it for now. I’ve got to go do some more worrying!!

Well it’s almost Friday and almost September. I think the weeks are just sailing by so fast anymore. It’s kind of scary!

Today I went to my friend Paula’s after work. She was having a fall open house. She sells and makes a lot of primitive things and her husband makes a lot of primitive furniture. I saved back my birthday money so I would have some spending money. I bought this white pumpkin, and the gourd on the right and the little white and green ones. I threw them in a wooden bowl and put it on the dining room table. When I get my house decorated for fall I will post some pictures. I’m trying to hold off until September.

I found this picture here. I thought it was neat how they put yarrow around the candle.

Another hot day

This is how I felt today at work. I was so hot and tired when I came home I fell asleep on the couch. I am such a wimp when it comes to hot weather. Although all of us at work were just about done in today. I don’t know if the air conditioner isn’t working good or what. So here are some pictures that reflect the images in my head.

And here’s a picture of how my whole body felt today.

I need one of those tapping bears of Linda’s! Speaking of Linda, here is another video of her explaining her bears to children.

Yucky Hot Weather

It was too hot and muggy today! Do not like do not like do not like!!!!

Look what I found when I got home from work today.

pics 189732

That’s right, an old window frame! A guy at work found some in some brush and knew I would probably like it, hey, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Anyway he sent it home with Rusty. I will keep it until that perfect project or idea comes along. Let’s see, you could put a bulletin board behind it, you could make it into a chalkboard, just give me some time and I will make it into something! The little knob on the bottom is oh so cute, don’t you agree?!

pics 189733

I see that look in your eyes!! You know, the one where you think I’m crazy!

Where did the cooler weather go? Come back Come back. I am ready for fall. I love the fall colors and cooler weather!

I like to decorate with fall things! Aren’t these pumpkins pretty!

I got my new tires put on my car today so now just have to get some for Doug’s car. He started back to school today and of course he was so excited! LOL! At least my day seemed to go better other than the fact that it was hot today.

The watermelon fairy came by again today! It tasted pretty good. I packed some for my lunch tomorrow.

Bad Mood Strikes

Well I have certainly had better days. I had a flat tire this morning and Rusty tried to fix it and he said the tire is just ruined. We were going to be putting all new tires on it anyway because it needed it but of course everything is just happening at once. I can’t take Doug’s car tomorrow because his car needs new tires also and he can’t drive it out of town. Rusty’s pickup might make it out of town if you hold your breath and say a few prayers along the way so……….eight new tires, I’m sure that will be a lovely price tag. What are you going to do? It is what it is. hip hip hooray! I’m going to start complaining like Eeyore! Well before the horror of everything starting sinking in, I did manage to take a picture this morning of some morning glories. I have morning glory coming up everywhere.

Today I helped Angi move some things into her apartment. It is a really nice place.

Her apartment is right at the top of the stairs.

Here’s Angi making another trip to the car. We had a good day catching up on things and we went to a few stores, ate lunch, just had a nice day. It was so beautiful out today!  Anyway, while talking with Angi, I learned her oldest sister Linda does this Emotional Freedom Technique. She does EFT sessions and workshops and created the magical tapping bear. Tapping is a healing technique. She has a website that you can check out and read about her EFT experiences.

What could it be? Mom looked out her window the other evening just before dark and saw something in the birdbath. A little further investigating and she discovered it was a black cat! Maybe it was practicing a pose for Halloween who knows! Love those green glowing eyes!

Love these past 2 days of cooler weather! I could live with that for quite some time!

Be crafty with Chalkboard paint

There are endless possibilities when it comes to chalkboard paint. I myself have never used it but I always see neat projects done with it. I thought this one was pretty cool from sugar pie farmhouse.

Of course you could put it on a child’s table.

I think this idea from here would be much better than having kids write on walls!

Here’s some neat chalkboard paint ideas from Country Living.

So go get you some paint and let your imagination run wild!

This morning I thought I would go ahead and try to walk before I left for work even though it was dark out. I went a couple of blocks and thought that maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all but since I was out I was going to finish. I did finish my walk but I also heard every noise, every sound, thinking, what was that? I got about 2 blocks from home and I could hear footsteps coming up from behind so I picked up my pace a bit but the footsteps were getting closer! I was then face to face with ………. well lucky for me, it was two gals that I knew, and they said, “We were wondering who was out here brave enough to walk alone.” I quickly told them that it wasn’t gonna happen again. Little ole chicken me was just going to have to wait until there was a little more daylight!!

History Lesson

How about some interesting facts from the 1500’s that was sent to me recently!

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, “Don’t throw the baby out with the Bath Water!”

Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying “It’s raining cats and dogs.”

There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That’s how canopy beds came into existence.

The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying, “Dirt Poor.” The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on the floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they added more thresh until, when you opened the door, it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entrance-way. Hence, a thresh hold.

And that my friends, is your history lesson for today!

I’ve been working on my project I told you about the other day. Here is what I’ve got done so far. I just have to make the little dolls that fit into the pockets. I will also have to tea stain it to make it darker.

Like this picture from Faith Harvest Primitives.

Alrighty now, I just now noticed after I have sewed it together that I put 5,6,7,& 8 in the middle and 3 & 4 at the end. God fill my heart and soul with peace so I don’t come unglued!!!! Can you believe it? Well I certainly do and guess what, I am not about to redo it. This is going to be my take on it—I purposely put that one in the middle because it is the longest so you just jump from side to side and then read the middle and then the top. Plus, since it is supposed to be a primitive piece, it’s not suppose to be perfect. Yep, that sounds reasonable enough for me. All that stitchin and I go and do something like that! Breathe Mindy Breathe. I think I will finish this post up with the following Hymn, “There is sunshine in my soul today……………….

Lord have Mercy

Jake left today to go up and stay at IWCC. We moved him in Thursday and then he went back up today to stay. They were having a BBQ this evening for everyone to get acquainted and then tomorrow he has a meeting he has to attend. So my boy number 2 has left the house. I know he will be back lots but it’s just a whole new chapter in his life. It was just yesterday he was the cutest little thing calling his little brother, “be be” instead of baby. Now it’s just Douglas. He has 2 years of high school left. My gosh, where’s the pause button? It’s going too fast! Here is Jake getting ready to leave.

I can tell he really wants to give mom a hug but that wouldn’t be cool.

I wonder how he’s doing about now? Maybe I should call him?! No better yet if I do anything I better “text” him. I think I will just wait and talk to him later even though I’ll be wondering how he’s doing?!LOL
