Well today was a little cooler. It felt nice.  I could stand a few more days like today!Tomorrow starts the summer reading program at the Public Library. I am going to help with that this year. I think it will be fun. Linda Sears and myself are taking the 1st – 3rd graders, so we worked a little this evening on our plans. I think we are ready to go, we will see come tomorrow!! I thought I would pull some more of my favorite pictures from my “favorites file.” These are some kitchen favorites.

Finished project

Ok I am done with my project I started awhile back. It is a Maggie Bonanomi pattern called a needlework roll-up. It will hold your scissors, pins, needles, thread or floss and even has a place to secure a small project. First are the pictures in Maggie’s book, “With these hands.”

Well I have a treat for you today, Rusty and I had the pleasure of spending an evening with Jim and Carla Nahkunst and getting a tour of their new log home. It is very beautiful and their view is very beautiful. Remember as always, pictures don’t do justice to the real thing. They have a bedroom in the basement that didn’t have anything in it yet and I told them that I was just sure my things would fit in there nicely!! :-)

Another Birthday today

Today is my niece Ciara’s Birthday. Happy Birthday Ciara! Hope you have a great day!

I have been working on a little project. I am not finished with it yet. I’ll tell you what it is when I am all finished. For right now here is part of it. There will be more to come when I get more finished.

I don’t know about you but it is too hot to do anything! People shouldn’t have to work outside on days like today!! If I didn’t have air conditioning I would be dead already, no kidding. Here’s a couple of photos. The first one is on my dining room table and the second one is a penny rug a friend made.

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Father’s Day Dad! Love you!

Here’s a picture I thought was hilarious! I got it from this gal’s blog. She always has a lot of funny stuff on her site.

Isn’t that a hoot! I realize it is not funny for people who actually have this disease and I don’t mean to belittle it. It’s just that if you don’t laugh about these  things once in awhile we’d all go nuts.

Last night Joan and I went over to Twila’s at the Log Cabin. She was having a showing of a wool applique quilt done by Maggie Bonanomi. For those of you who don’t know, Maggie designs her own line of patterns for wool and other fabrics called A Design from the Butternut House. She also creates designs for rug hooking. She has a studio and shop, Simply Butternut, in a old 1830’s log house in Lexington, Missouri. She has also designed for other companies. Joan and I had the pleasure of meeting Maggie awhile back at Twila’s. She did a book signing and had some of her designs there for display. Here is the quilt that was there on display last night. Pictures don’t do it justice. You need to see it in person. It is absolutely beautiful!

Here are some pictures I took with my camera.

Like I said, the pictures just don’t do it justice. You can’t really see the true colors in it, because the true colors are beautiful!. Now, here’s the deal. Quilting is something I never got into learning. I have some beautiful family quilts and I treasure those. They are definitely heirlooms. Wool applique is something I can do and love doing and this is as close to making a quilt as I’ll probably ever do. So I am going to take on this project. Twila is offering this as a block a month club. There are 9 blocks total and then the top and bottom is considered the 10th. I figured if I am ever going to do something like this, now is the time as I will be able to have help with it as Twila is going to have the monthly classes. I won’t be able to make but probably 2 class as they are in Lincoln but I know I will be able to receive help should I need it. The only parts that I figure I will need help with is putting it together and putting the backing on it. Joan said she could help me too. Thanks Joan!! Anyway when I get this finished I will have a beautiful wool appliqued quilt that I know I will certainly cherish and be most proud of!

Isn’t this bedroom to die for?!

She also made the wool applique quilt cover on her bed. I could do that with mine or hang it on the wall. These pictures are my inspiration for the bedroom I want to have someday. Just absolutely love it!!

Here are some more pictures from “my favorites” stash. Just love looking at them!

I had to laugh because I have a folder with some of my favorite pictures in it and this one was in there too!

Now this one was in there not because it was one of my favorites  (even though he is cute!) he just somehow ended up in my file! Sneaky little thing!
